This story is a tad more dramatic & an angsty version of a girl who is secretly in love with her brother-in-law's bestfriend... It tells you about the unraveling of Lotte—her, as a person; her, dealing with grief; her unrequieted feelings for Samson and her, fighting her inner demons. We'll also read about Samson fighting his own demons while coming to terms about his feelings for Lotte... this and more.
It took me awhile to warm up to the book (I'm sorry!). To be honest, I found Lotte exasperating— but I guess that's how she is supposed to be... and the push and pull between her and Sam was so frustrating, enough to make me wanna pull my hair! Man, it was driving me crazy!Smh Lol
I dont mind drama... Drama is what makes a great story memorable. It's what leaves an imprint to readers... but... in this one, I felt like it just had a bit more than what was needed or necessary... especially in the first half of the book—it was making me anxious.
Although this story was a slow burn for me, I loved it. It pulled itself up midway. The pacing was great... the cover is gorgeous...and overall, I'm just glad it all worked out in the end.
What I loved most is that reading this story teaches you about courage, patience and self-love.
If you're a fan of an angsty and drama-filled romance, this is the book to read next!
