SOMETHING WONDERFUL by M. CLARKE

SYNOPSIS:

Sometimes falling in love means letting go of the past…

Jeanella’s confidence and trust in Max continues to grow, and life seems to be on track. Then Crystal decides to pursue a sexual harassment lawsuit, and Jeanella’s world turns upside down. Once again, she wonders if she will ever be enough for Max. Jeanella is forced to make a decision; stay and fight for her man or leave him for good.

Becky's unexpected friendship with Matthew continues to blossom, as they try to define the boundaries of their relationship; but a one-night stand threatens to ruin it all. As Matthew’s feelings for Becky grow, he’s torn between guilt and heartache over his deceased fiancée. Can Becky break through his wall and help him heal?

My thoughts after reading...
This book is the second installment of Something Great. The story has four p.o.v's---Jenna's, Max's, Matthew's and Becky's... Honestly, I got kinda worried when I learned there'll be multiple p.o.v's... I'm usually used to only two--just from both the female & male protagonist. I don't know how the author did it without confusing the reader. Some authors confuse the hell out of me even with only two p.o.v's....but surprisingly, this one worked...it works! Rockin' some serious writing skills right there M. Clarke!😉

Anyway... The book starts with a prologue about what happened to Becky back in college...and why she's protective of her bestfriends and adamant about alcohol & driving.

The first chapter starts right off Jenna's recovery from her car accident... Her relationship with Max, seems to be getting stronger as each day passes. The two are practically inseparable---like they've been Krazy-glued to each other, and putting Wednesdays as "Hump-Day" to shame... They have their own little bubble and their relationship seems to be invincible... Until secrets of the past came back to haunt them and threaten to tear them apart. That right there is life happening... Just when you think everything is a freaking ray of sunshine, someone deliberately hangs rain clouds on ya... Yep, life is full of surprises. Both good and shitty ones...

***
Since Matthew Knight came back to work and has been around to assist his brother Max in running the family-owned company, he's  been hanging around much in Jenna's apartment...the apartment she shares with Becky... These two are just too cute for their own good! Its like friggin freshman year in College all over again... Anyway... Both tried to downplay their feelings for eachother...both tried to be the bigger smartass whenever the other around...both tried so hard to resist the pull they have... But like they say...the more you try to resist, the more it weakens you; it strengthens its pull on you and with a blink of an eye, it snaps right back at ya---stronger.

Its so touching to read about adult siblings being so close, like Max and Matt. We seldom have that in real life as people are more focused on work and other stuff, that we take for granted what matters most in life----family and close friendships, like the ones that Jenna, Becky, Nicole & Kate have.

This story made me realize that anger & pride will only prolong the suffering we feel. I mean, looking things through Jenna's eyes, I understood where her apprehension and her doubts came from. And although Max was nothin but faithful and true to her, still its never an excuse to hide something you know that will threaten your relationship...and most certainly hide something that will only conjure more distrust.

And as for Matthew... Well, at least he was honest about his past to Becky... Its just the "letting-go" and the "feeling-guilty" part thats  making him hold back even when his brain is subtly telling him to finally move on. Little does he know that aside from the growing attraction they both feel, they have something else in common as well...

One must read this to enjoy the whole story like I did!

And OH.MY.FRIGGIN.GOSH! That last bit in the epilogue is just so cruel... Just when I thought everything's gonna be fine with everyone, something epic comes up...something that'll definitely change their lives forever... Which by the way, left me in dire anticipation...lol!
