Synopsis:
My thoughts after reading...
I have to say that I want a "Carter Reed" in my life!!! I mean, who doesn't right? Right.
So the story starts when Emma finds her best-friend and roomie being raped when she came home from a would-be work-out session at the gym. Of course her instinct was to save her best-friend and herself. She shoots said rapist square in the head and I guess that was a good thing. But said rapist is the beloved son of a mafia-boss and thats where her trouble started to become a clusterfuck of sorts.
Although I really do believe Emma did the right thing, she didn't deserve the predicament & perplexities that came with it. In the first place, its her roomies fault she was in that situation. She kept on hooking-up with these losers and douchebags without a care for self-preservation when it comes to sex. She was a woman of the world... Although nobody deserves to be raped...but like I said, her sleeping around was the catalyst in leading her to that situation.
I pity Emma for having lost her brother a few years back. She's literally alone in life. I felt her lost and grief, having to witness her brother's murder first-hand. I'm not sure anybody can get over that. She was lucky enough Carter Reed, her brother's best-friend was around to watch her, though from afar at first.
Carter Reed was also connected to a rival mafia family, so it kinda got messy and bloody as we go through the story... And oh, as it turns out Carter is in love with Emma for a long time.
Stories about falling in love with your best-friend's sister or vice-versa always gives me butterflies in my tummy...and how swoon-worthy is this Carter Reed, really?? He would declare war for her... Give his life for her if needed be. I mean nobody does that!!! Hell chivalry is almost dead in this day and age! Carter Reed is the ultimate knight in shining armor.
I would've wanted to read more about Carter and Emma. Probably read about them getting married and raising a family. I wanted the complete HEA. Well, I'm mushy...so...
This is the most action-packed love story I've read. In fact, more action-packed than Michelle Leighton's Bad Boy's series. The story had me on the edge of my seat, biting on my nails!
Congratulations Tijan!🙌
