THE MAN I CAN'T HAVE by SHANORA WILLIAMS

MY THOUGHTS AFTER READING...

This is my sixth Shanora Williams review on my blog. I've read other books that are written by her but the Tainted Black Series was my favorite.

This story is about the love triangle of Kyle, Gabby and Marcel... As you've already deduced from the title and the blurb—yes, Gabby is the young housewife, Kyle is the husband and Marcel is the landscape architect.

I've conditioned myself from the outset that this book may contain something that would definitely raise my hackles.

I've been cheated on and had been made a fool of... I'd never condone cheating... It's gut-wrenching to know that the person you trust most in the world—other than your own family, would be the one to break your heart and mess with your head. It sucks, but at least something good came out from my experience—I've learned to love myself more and because of that I had peace of mind.

Now I know there's more than meets the eye when it came to Gabby's and Kyle's relationship. From the outside looking in, their relationship seemed perfect... it always does but there is no other way—cheating is still cheating. It's a conscious decision. I'm not being judgmental or uptight, but the truth of the matter is that it really is a deliberate action. There is no gray area. If you're very miserable why would you make yourself suffer? It's not giving up if you get your sanity or your dignity to remain intact and of course your peace of mind... so that's my two cents in.

Now lets be technical... Overall I did enjoy the book. It was sweet and sexy.  Each of the characters were able to hold my interest from beginning to end... The cover is beautiful and subtly sexy... And eventhough I was being mindful of the timeline and the pivotal parts of actions, I still think it was a wee bit fast-paced. I also think Marcel was a tad  aggressive... and in reality, I'd guess a normal and  professional landscape architect—regardless of his feelings,  wouldn't really act so blantantly bold... I don't know if it's just me who thinks this but yeah.

I definitely did not expect that plot twist in the end... that was really shocking... I was like, now I understand but still... lol

I'm excited about what happens next. Can't wait for book two!
