THE GAME CHANGER by: J. Sterling

Synopsis:

Jack appeared at my door last night after six months of no communication wearing a Mets jersey and holding a dozen red roses. He told me he was sorry, that he loved me, and that he would earn my trust again. It took everything in me to not fall apart at the mere sight of him. I wanted to take him back into my life, but I needed to know that this time it would be forever…

Jack & Cassie's story continues in the follow up to the Best Selling book, The Perfect Game.

Thrust into the spotlight, Cassie must learn how to navigate the waters of this sometimes unforgiving and cruel world. It's a lifestyle that makes you question your happiness and sanity as the past is never truly far behind.

How do you stay together when the world's trying to tear you apart?

My thoughts after reading...

The Game Changer is the much anticipated sequel of The Perfect Game... You must read The Perfect Game first so you'll understand Cassie Andrew better...her apprehensions, fears, trust issues etc... lemme just say that The Perfect Game was the first book that made me cry... like really cry. I didn't really want to, but I cannot help it, especially the part where Cassie was in the parking lot, practically begging Jack not to marry that manipulative biatch Chrystle... I empathized with Cassie. Surely, it wasn't easy for her to beg, especially when she was the victim...the one who got cheated on...the one who got hurt... To know deep in their heart of hearts that they really do love each other, but cannot be together since Jack wanted to do the right thing....and we all know doing the right thing doesn't necessarily make it easier for anybody or doesn't always make us happy.... So, okay...Moving on....

The Game Changer picked-up where the last page of The Perfect Game left off... I guess love is indeed sweeter the second time around. They can't seem to get enough of each other... Their pent-up emotions from the last couple of months apart loosened like raging waters on a broken dam. It was intense...

The story was mostly a detailed recount of what happened to Jack F'n Carter, from the cheating, the break-up and the divorce...

Jack's plan was to go get Cassie when everything is already ironed-out... And I think its a pretty awesome plan considering the hell he put her through... He asked to be traded to the New York Mets to be closer to Cassie... And luckily it worked-out just fine...

Everyday was kind of a battle for both Cassie and Jack... For Jack, it was a battle for forgiving himself, of what he'd done to Cassie and to make everything right for both of them... For Cassie, it was the pressures of being a sport-superstar's beau and of course lets not forget the trust issues and apprehensions that keeps on tormenting her mentally & emotionally... but of course, who could blame her? She was devastated... it really was devastating... I mean to know the love of your life cheated on you, who up & married the stranger he cheated you with because he got her effin' pregnant...and to know that despite everything, you still love each other so much... Its just too damn much for her to take... Hell! Its too much for anyone to take! And as if it wasn't already hard enough, we throw in Chrystle's continued harassment...the heckling of die-hard fans...her personal issues...etc.... I can't really blame her for running away. Anybody who is under that amount of stress & scrutiny surely will explode if wont cool off somehow, somewhere...away from all the chaos. But I cant also blame Jack for feeling left out when they were supposed to be partners and each others lifeline.

But I'm glad everything worked out... These two deserve to be happy and deserve to be with each other... Love is indeed the greatest commandment...

Gramps, Gran, Melissa and Dean were awesome too ya know? And their miracle worker, Vanessa, Chrystle's bestfriend, who helped them out even when she doesn't really have to. If it wasn't for her, they would probably be in that clusterfuck of a mess a lot longer. And not everybody condones a bad deed...

The story is about second chances... And grand gestures... Whats meant to be will always find its way... and Jack & Cassie, are meant to be together and meant for each other.

Maybe there will be another book? Like a longer epilogue of them starting a family or something... wishful thinking I guess... Congratulations J. Sterling!! Well done 👌👍👏☺
