MY THOUGHTS AFTER READING...
I received an ARC for this book... I read the blurb and thought, "this would be a nice light read," which was something I needed, and so it was... I didnt know what to expect as this was my first time to read an Erin Swann novel.
Honestly, it took about 5 chapters in before I warmed up to the characters... It was a slow burn for me. At first, I thought Steven was a shallow egomaniac and Emma was a cross between exasperatingly naive and frustratingly indecisive. But as the pages turned and as I got deeper into the book, I began to enjoy the characters.
I didnt like the mind games, but I guess its possible that it happens in real life. And I guess you just cant help yourself when your heart decides to feel something for someone eventhough you've only known them a few short days... I can relate to the heroine when it comes to jumping into conclusions—making rash decisions is inevitable when self-preservation is involved... I can also relate to her insecurities and being apprehensive...but most of all, I can relate to her being a daddy's girl and being close to her sister.
This is sorta' like a Cinderella story with a twist—Damsel in distress gets saved by the handsome prince who was pretending to be a commoner, with an evil witch lurking in the corner just biding her time...
