TRYING NOT TO LOVE YOU by MEGAN SMITH

Synopsis:

MacKenzie Cahill has dealt with overbearing and overprotective brothers her entire life, making it near impossible to enjoy her teenage years. Having a boyfriend was practically impossible until she met a guy that wasn't afraid to stand up to them - Dominic. He was sweet, thoughtful, and everything MacKenzie ever wanted in a man.

But when they go away to college at Old Dominion University, MacKenzie sees a whole new side of Dominic and begins to wonder if he really is different from every other guy.

Her world is turned upside down after a party, and her brothers' best friend Hunter is the one there to offer her a shoulder to cry on. The chemistry between them is electric, and feelings for each other that have been hidden for years are finally voiced.

Is Hunter willing to be disloyal to his best friends in order to be with the one girl he's always secretly wanted?

My thoughts after reading...

Honestly, stories about falling in love for your older brother's bestfriend is kinda' common... This reminds me a bit about Teagan Harper and Declan Sage's story from This Beautiful Thing by Amanda Heath... But nevertheless, I loved it!

Hunter is bestfriends with Mackenzie's twin brothers Mason and Cooper...Kenzie had been having feelings for Hunter since the first time she laid her eyes on him... and as it turns out, so does Hunter but he fights his damn hardest not to give in because he's bestfriends with her twin brothers and of course, being the overprotective brothers Mason & Cooper are, the twins had set parameters that Kenzie is off-limits. Both tried to stay away from eachother but couldn't completely... so they kinda' have this flirty banters with eachother.. Eventually Kenzie lost hope of a chance with Hunter he kinda shot her down, then she started dating Dominic... a football star and Hunter has been with other girls too... But as we all know, the heart wants what the heart wants... and what it wants, it must have (it)...

Eventually both Hunter and Kenzie finally gave up fighting their feelings and caved-in... Like any other relationships, it has its ups and downs and when the twins knew, specifically Mason, he went ape-shit crazy and it took its toll on the couple... The pressure from the twins and the petty jealousies felt a bit too much but I'm glad they were able to overcome their problems...

I loved how the story was told. The pacing of the story was gradual and very much understandable. What I didn't like though, was the cliffhanger... ugh!! LOL but kidding aside, 2 thumbs up for Megan Smith... hope the next book wont be out too long.. I'm dying to find out what happened next.. darn this cliffhangers' LOL 😉 👍👌👏
