HIM by Carey Heywood

SYNOPSIS:

Sarah Miller hasn’t been home in seven years. She thought she could stay away forever. If it wasn’t for her big brother's wedding, that is. Part of her even feels silly for staying away this long. It's not like anyone even knew what happened. Well, except for him.

That guy. The one she compared all others to. The one who set the bar so high no other guy after him could even compete. The one who made her feel like anything was possible. The one she thought she would never be good enough for. The one she spent the last seven years trying to forget.
All she needs to do is make it through the next week without running into him.

My thoughts after reading...

I love this book! I know I've said this a bunch of times but honestly I do... There's always room in my heart for another one. Gosh... Where do I even begin??

HIM is the story of Will Price & Sarah Miller. They met in middle school and from there on, hit it off... They've been friends ever since. And through the years, each developed feelings for each other but neither of them acknowledges it at first... But as time passed by, their feelings grew stronger and eventually they gave in to it.

And fate as we know it, is cruel sometimes...and when some people are hell bent on creating drama and meddle in your business, things surely gets fucked up. And when we're hurt, we become vulnerable & insecure, and we retreat to seek solace.. Its a normal reaction really.

I got Sarah. I empathized with how she felt. Especially the part about Her conversation with Will's mom... I know parents just want the best for their children but to deliberately set-up Will with another girl is just soooo wrong... All a parent should ever do is guide their child, and not control and make decisions for them especially when said child is already an adult.

What I learned from this story is to always have an open-line of communication... Never keep anything--apprehensions especially or hurt-feelings...Your partner isn't a psychic... Or maybe at the least, confront and ask the truth and not make assumptions. After all, a love worth risking your heart and sanity for is definitely worth the fight.

All we really want is peace of mind and not waste time worrying about the what-ifs... And.... No matter how hard we try to move on, our heart knows deep inside, that the battle hasn't ended yet... Maybe thats why both Will & Sarah didn't have serious relationships after each other.

Stories about best-friends falling in love aren't uncommon. It happens everyday in real life. I guess its easy to fall for your best-friend since there is no anxious effort to impress or show your best foot forward---they already know you---know what makes you tick, what makes you smile, can read your mind, automatically becomes your protector, etc... Its just natural.

To the fans of Catching Jordan, Trying Not to Love You and Present Perfect, this is the book to read. Its romantic and definitely makes your heart flutter without the heavy stuff... I can't wait for HER...said to be out sometime in October! I'm soooo excited already!
