EVER ENOUGH by Stacy Borel

SYNOPSIS:

What happens when the man you thought was the one, ends up being the one that got away?

When Finley breaks her heart on graduation night, eighteen year old Emilyn is left alone to pick up the pieces of her life. After muddling through the next ten years-including immersing herself in a lifeless marriage-she is brought to her knees when she encounters Finley at her high school reunion. Long ago buried emotions and feelings bubble to the surface and when Finley kisses her, Emilyn flees the scene. Arriving home to find her husband in the arms of another woman, Emilyn is forced to return to her hometown and start again. But is it possible to start afresh when the past just won’t seem to let you go?

Finley has spent the ten years since high school focused on his career. As a songwriter, he has never had a problem getting women. But when he realizes that the woman he let go a decade ago could be his happy ever after, he decides to do whatever it takes to get her back. But are some hurdles too great to overcome?

My thoughts after reading...

I guess its true what they say about the most painful goodbyes are the ones unsaid... Ever Enough is the love story of Finley Morgan & Emilyn Tucker. They were high school sweethearts... It was love at first sight for Finley. He was the high school football star, she was practically unknown.. But it didn't matter. To Finn, she was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen and he was in love...they were in love... And that is why Emilyn was devastated when Finn just up and left her on Graduation night without so much as a breath to follow his dreams. And Emilyn stayed behind, taking each day at a time, coping and picking up the broken pieces of her shattered heart.

Fast forward 10 years after, they saw each other for the first time at a club a day before their high-school reunion. Naturally sparks fly and Emilyn being married to that prick Weston, struggled to contain herself... Feelings came rushing back...well, to be honest they  were never really gone to begin with... Realizations became too much to take...

I understand how Emilyn feels... The not-knowing-what-I-did-wrong part can really drive someone off the wall... I get how she shut-down and just went with the flow...she just drifted. And I guess Finn did as well. He never had a real honest-to-goodness relationship ever since Emilyn. And now that he has a second chance at making everything right with his true love, he grabs the opportunity...

Lemme just say this..I really hated Weston!I mean I know he was written that way...but still I can't help but think that there are really guys like him you know. I mean asshole and prick is kinda' an understatement! I can't believe his indifference to Emilyn. He doesn't show an ounce of compassion even after the mishap... I never abhorred an antagonist soooo much as Weston... He even surpasses Todd from Trophy Husband! Ugh!

Okay...deep breaths...deep breaths....sorry, I got carried away in there...

Anyway, the lesson I learned from this story is that we shouldn't settle for less than we deserve... We need to exhaust all effort to find ways to be with the person we love and just set aside our pride... I mean pride is futile if we're really hurting and empty deep inside. Honesty and communication is the key to every successful relationship... And last lesson learned is to never give up on who you are & who you really love---well unless the other person gives you up, then move on...being a martyr is damn well pathetic.

This story has all the ingredients in a good book...it has comedy, romance and drama...It has HEA... I recommend reading it 👍
