It all started the summer after their senior year when they got together. They loved each other fervently and couldn't bear to be away from one another... But Kia James' is full of baggage. Her life wasn't colored with rainbows. She has a messed-up family... Her Dad walked out on them 6years ago & her mom turned to alcohol for solace like its the effin' shroud of Turin!
Given all these pressures and predicament, of course one can't think rationally and surely the first easiest thing to do is not to face reality and run away... and so she did. Leaving both themselves broken-hearted. And now she's back again to spend Summer at her hometown at Harlan Grove. And suffice to say that the mindfuck she's trying to put at bay, came rushing down, on full-force making her face reality...
From the outset, I didn't like Kia James. She was just over-thinking and over-analyzing everything--and its kinda annoying... Of course I can't blame her for all the clusterfuck that is her life, but still, it was too much paranoia or apprehension for one person to deal with. I'm even surprised why her head didn't explode!😁 Didn't we all learned the fact that the the heart is utterly stubborn and there's no point in restraining it?
And Reese... Oh. My. Fawkin. Gawd. Is Reese Pembleton for real or what?? He is just too good to be true----pun intended😉 he reminds me of Gavin Blake from Pulse and David Ferris from Lick. He is just the sweetest. The way he's around Kia, and the way he's treating her is just so swoon-worthy.
In all honesty, I felt like I was sitting on the edge of my chair scrunching my forehead, as I turned to the last page... Of course there's a part 2!!argh!😒 I cant wait to see how Kia and Reese's love story plays out. And I'm also very curious about Adam and Lucy's own story, and get to know Kia's playboy bestfriend, Jay. A love-story about second-chances? What more could we ask for😊
